Chowol was founded through the collaboration of lawyers with exceptional expertise in their respective fields. Lawyer Kyung-hwan Kim, who scored a perfect score on South Korea’s 2012 College Scholastic Ability Test, graduated from Seoul National University’s School of Law and Business Administration. Specializing in corporate legal affairs and fair trade, he is known for his outstanding analytical skills in complex corporate transactions.
Lawyer Hong-seung Lee, who graduated early from a science high school and completed his Ph.D. coursework in engineering at Seoul National University, brings a unique academic background. Specializing in intellectual property rights and technology-related disputes, he leverages his engineering expertise to address legal issues in advanced technology sectors.
Lawyer Jae-woo Park, a judicial examination-qualified attorney, built extensive experience in corporate legal affairs, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), and finance at Kim & Chang. Licensed in California, he has a strong advantage in international cases and has dealt with corporate legal matters, large-scale inheritance cases, and IT/privacy cases.
Lawyer Dong-hee Cho graduated from Seoul National University’s School of Law and has a background in living abroad in the UK and completing high school in France. Fluent in English and French, he has expertise in real estate, M&A, international arbitration, and corporate legal affairs, with a California bar license adding to his credentials for international legal services.
Notably, Lawyer Lim Hyun-seo, a graduate of Seoul National University’s Business and Law Schools, is an "influencer lawyer" with over 200,000 followers across platforms like YouTube. He has appeared on Netflix Originals and previously led projects such as AI-based personnel placement and automated real estate evaluation systems for major clients like IBK. He is now spearheading the adoption of AI technology at Chowol to revolutionize legal operations.
Due to his versatile abilities, Lawyer Lim has earned the nickname "Scam Character," which refers to someone whose skills and achievements seem almost unreal. During his law school years, he won mock trial competitions, became the final winner of Channel A’s *Good People*, passed the bar exam and real estate broker exam within ten days, and participated in shows like *Mr. Trot* and *Superstar K*.
Chowol aims to leverage AI to enhance legal services, including document review, case analysis, and risk assessment, thereby improving efficiency and offering more accurate and timely legal assistance to clients.
Lawyer Lim stated, “The introduction of AI technology will not only enhance operational efficiency but also improve the quality of legal services, ultimately leading to increased client satisfaction.” He further expressed his ambition, saying, “Chowol will combine expertise and innovation to emerge as a next-generation leading law firm. By bringing together lawyers with multilingual proficiency and international experience, we aim to spearhead the provision of global legal services.”
Chowol operates on a co-representative structure where all founding partners share responsibilities and authority, maximizing synergy through collaboration. With expertise in corporate legal affairs, civil and criminal litigation, real estate, intellectual property, and international law, the firm has established a strong foundation to meet diverse client needs.
